Safety is a shared responsibility. This policy explains the standards expected from people using Spride and the role and limitations of safety features available through our mobility ecosystem.
Effective 21 August 2026
1. Purpose and scope
This policy applies to passengers, drivers, professional users, fleet operators, business users, and others who use Spride's website, app, taxi, Premium, scooter, public transportation, delivery, logistics, or related services.
It supplements our Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, service-specific rules, and applicable law. Transport providers, public transportation operators, lenders, and other third parties may also have safety rules that apply to their services.
2. Shared responsibility for safety
Spride works to support safer journeys through technology, information, standards, and support processes. Every user also has a responsibility to act lawfully, exercise reasonable care, follow safety instructions, and avoid conduct that could endanger another person.
Drivers and professional users must hold required licences, permissions, insurance, and vehicle documentation; keep vehicles roadworthy and clean; follow traffic laws; and remain fit and attentive while providing services. Passengers must use vehicles and equipment responsibly and follow reasonable safety directions.
3. Before a ride or trip
Before beginning a journey:
- confirm that the driver, vehicle, and registration details match the app;
- check the pickup and destination information;
- use an appropriate child restraint or seat belt where required;
- do not enter a vehicle or unlock equipment if something appears unsafe or does not match the booking;
- do not exceed passenger, baggage, or equipment limits; and
- tell the driver about accessibility or other relevant needs where appropriate.
Scooter users should inspect the scooter, wear appropriate protective equipment, and confirm that riding is permitted in the intended area before starting.
4. During a ride or trip
Wear a seat belt where one is available and required. Do not distract the driver, interfere with vehicle controls, request dangerous or unlawful manoeuvres, open a door while moving, or behave in a way that threatens another person. Drivers must not use a handheld device while driving except where lawfully mounted or safely operated for navigation or service purposes.
Follow the route shown in the app where practical, recognising that road closures, traffic, safety conditions, or lawful instructions may require a different route. If you feel unsafe, ask to end the ride in a safe place when circumstances allow and use the appropriate support or emergency channel.
5. Spride safety features
Depending on product, location, device, and availability, Spride may offer:
- driver and vehicle details;
- live or recent trip location and route information;
- trip sharing with a trusted contact;
- user-activated trip monitoring or protection settings;
- safety alerts and check-ins;
- incident reporting and support tools; and
- optional audio or video safety capabilities where lawfully supported.
Some features operate automatically after a service begins; others must be enabled or activated by the user. The app will identify available controls. A feature shown on the website may be planned, limited, or unavailable in your area.
6. Location sharing and trip monitoring
Location permissions may support pickup, routing, driver matching, trip tracking, service availability, and safety features. Live location accuracy depends on your device, settings, GPS, network connection, surrounding environment, and third-party mapping services.
Trip sharing and monitoring may be user-activated and may require the app to remain connected. Choose trusted recipients and avoid sharing a trip link publicly. A recipient's ability to view information may end when the trip or sharing period ends.
7. Audio and video features
Audio or video safety tools are optional, device-dependent, and available only where supported and lawful. They may require user activation, permissions, sufficient storage, power, and network connectivity. Appropriate notices or consent must be provided where required before recording begins.
Users must not record, access, publish, or share another person's information unlawfully. Safety recordings, where supported, may be used to review an incident, provide support, protect legal rights, or respond to a valid request from an authority. Further details appear in our Privacy Policy.
8. Emergencies and urgent situations
If there is an immediate threat to life, safety, or property, move to a safe place if you can and contact the appropriate local emergency service directly. Do not rely exclusively on the Spride app, website, driver, support team, or another user to contact emergency services for you.
“Spride Police” is the name of a collection of trip safety and protection features. It does not mean that Spride is a police service, and it does not guarantee police contact, dispatch, rescue, prevention, monitoring by a person, or a particular response time. Network outages, location errors, permissions, device failure, local law, and service availability can affect safety tools.
9. Prohibited conduct
Spride does not permit:
- violence, threats, harassment, intimidation, or discriminatory conduct;
- sexual misconduct, unwanted contact, or invasion of privacy;
- driving while impaired, dangerously tired, distracted, or unlicensed;
- weapons or unlawful, dangerous, or hazardous items;
- damage, tampering, reckless scooter use, or interference with safety equipment;
- fraudulent identity, vehicle, trip, location, or incident information;
- retaliation against a person who raises a safety concern; or
- misuse of safety, emergency, recording, or support tools.
Spride may restrict or suspend access while reviewing a credible safety concern and may refer a matter to an appropriate authority where lawful and necessary.
10. Reporting incidents and concerns
Report a safety concern as soon as reasonably possible through the available app or support channel. Include relevant trip details and a clear description. Do not put yourself at risk to collect evidence. Preserve receipts, messages, photographs, or other relevant material only where safe and lawful.
Spride may review account, trip, location, communication, device, payment, or other relevant information; contact involved users; request further details; restrict an account; or cooperate with an authorised investigation. We aim to handle reports fairly, sensitively, and without promising a particular outcome or timeframe.
Lost items should be reported through support. Spride may help connect the relevant users but cannot guarantee that an item will be found, returned, or delivered.
11. Privacy and safety information
Safety features may process identity, contact, vehicle, trip, location, communications, incident, and optional recording information. We limit access to people and providers who need it for safety, support, legal, or service purposes and retain it according to its sensitivity, purpose, and applicable law.
We may disclose information to emergency services, law enforcement, regulators, insurers, professional advisers, or others when authorised, legally required, or reasonably necessary to protect a person or legal right. See our Privacy Policy for more information and available rights.
12. Service limitations
No transport or technology service can eliminate every risk. Spride does not guarantee that a user has provided accurate information, that a third-party service will be uninterrupted, or that a safety feature will prevent or detect every incident. Users must exercise judgment and follow applicable law and local safety guidance.
Public transportation information may concern external operators. Spride does not control their vehicles, personnel, routes, schedules, or safety practices unless a service is expressly identified as Spride-operated.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our safety features, operations, or legal obligations change. The effective date above identifies the current version. We will provide appropriate notice of material changes.
14. Contact us
For non-emergency safety questions or reports, contact Spride Networking. For an immediate emergency, contact the appropriate local emergency service first.
